 «Fidele» is one of the most fashionable clubs of Kharkov. It is a club where constantly takes place something interesting. The park is about a hundred years old. It occupies the area of 136 hectares. Aerial Cableway. You can take an aerial cable car to get from the Otakara Yarosha St. near the Spring to the Sumska St. near the Central Park of Culture and Recreation named after Gorky. The Gorky Park is a very popular location for recreation of Kharkivites. The main park receives up to five million visitors annually. 

The Shevchenko Gardens is the oldest green area in the city center. It was planted as far back as 1804. The gardens central path is a beautiful chestnut-tree alley leading from the Taras Shevchenko Monument to the University building. The gardens area of 25 hectares has over 15,000 trees and bushes of more than 100 varieties. It also has gigantic oaks, which are over 200 years old. One of these grows close to the monument to the great Kobzar (Bard). The gardens are being expanded and improved every year. After the war, their western slope was reconstructed with a water cascade and stairs leading down to the Klochkovska Street. A color and music fountain is located in the center of the gardens. 

It is situated in a small but very picturesque garden good for taking a stroll or just sitting for a while on a bench, or arranging a date.

The Mirror Stream fountain was built in 1947, to commemorate victory in the Second World War. It is located at Sumska Street, just opposite the Opera Theater.

The central part of square's circumference is occupied by the State Industry Building or Derzhprom. This is one of city's unique architectural and historic sights. It was built in 1925-1928 to become the first high-rise building in the country. The Derzhprom consists of a group of blocks connected by passages running on different levels. The following figures signify the scope of the structure: total site area occupies 11,000 square meters and the facade length is 300 meters.

Svobody (Freedom) Square. City's main square is the largest square in Ukraine and one of the largest in Europe. This is the venue of festivals, concerts, fairs, rallies, meetings, and other public events.

The year which is considered to be the date of the foundation of Kharkov or Kharkiv (in Ukrainian) is 1654. Back then the vast flat areas of Eastern Ukraine were not very developed due to the lack of natural fortifications, the hills that were present couldn't offer a serious advantage against the invaders so for hundreds of years this area was not populated densely. As the legend says a man named Kharkov was the one who actually started the settlement which eventually grew into a modern Kharkov.

In Kharkov you will see ancient houses some of which were built 150 and 200 years ago and also ultra modern office buildings made of glass and concrete.
